Crown Paints Nets Three Awards at 2025 British Coatings Federation Awards
8 December 2025
We are delighted to have secured the Race to Net Zero title for third consecutive year at the British Coatings Federation awards (BCF).
We secured three prestigious awards at the 2025 BCF awards, cementing our position as a leader in sustainability, customer excellence and social impact within the UK coatings industry.
The awards were presented at Carden Park in Chester on 12 November 2025.
We won the Race to Net Zero award for the third year running, alongside awards for Customer Service and CSR Strategy. The company also received a Highly Commended recognition in the Excellence in Training category for its innovative Safety Excellence Game.
Our third consecutive Race to Net Zero win recognises the company’s ambitious roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality across all UK operations by 2025. We are now 99.5% fossil-fuel free, using certified renewable electricity across all operations – from factories to decorating centres – and have reduced direct greenhouse emissions by 67% since 2019.
Environmental performance extends beyond energy. We sends zero waste to landfill, recycling or reusing across more than 50 waste categories, and we have collected and recycled over one million paint cans per year for the third consecutive year – the biggest scheme of its kind in the industry. Our plastic packaging already includes 70% recycled content, with a goal to reach 80%, and nearly 80% of water-based paints are now low in VOCs.
The CSR Strategy award celebrates Crown’s flagship Project Possible initiative. Through Project Possible, we have supported hundreds of community groups across the UK with paint donations, bringing colour and transformation to schools, community hubs, theatres and youth zones. The programme invests in professional development opportunities for architects, designers and decorators, whilst offering colleagues access to wellbeing support including counselling, legal advice, cancer support and life coaching.
The Customer Service award reflects the company-wide commitment to excellence, with industry-leading response times, near-zero error rates, and continuous improvements driven by customer feedback.
Matt Crossingham, Managing Director of Crown Paints, said: “These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of everyone at Crown Paints. Winning Race to Net Zero for the third consecutive year demonstrates that our commitment to sustainability isn’t just about words – it’s backed by real action and measurable results. Whether it’s our progress towards carbon neutrality, the positive impact of Project Possible in communities across the UK and Ireland or the exceptional service our teams deliver every day, I’m incredibly proud of what we’re achieving together. These recognitions belong to every colleague who continues to raise the bar and make Crown Paints a business that truly makes a difference.”
We also achieved Highley Commended for its Safety Excellence Game, a dynamic board game format to deliver health and safety training, fostering teamwork and embedding a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.
